In August, the Libraries launched their new discovery service, OneSearch. OneSearch makes it easier than ever to find, request, and get library resources such as journal articles, ebooks, and print books, because OneSearch is fully integrated with our library management system, including “My Account,” the library catalog, and the interlibrary loan request system.
OneSearch provides similar functionality to the Libraries’ previous discovery service, SuperSearch, but OneSearch looks different from what many of our faculty and students are accustomed to. You may be wondering how this transition will impact your day-to-day work. We don’t think the impact will be too big, as OneSearch and SuperSearch are quite similar discovery services. However, we want to highlight a few changes that may impact your work. Some of these might be:
- If you have saved searches in SuperSearch that you want to retain, you’ll need to save that search outside of the SuperSearch interface. This is because once we no longer have access to SuperSearch any saved searches will no longer be accessible.
- If you have folders created and saved in SuperSearch, you’ll need to download the articles or get those into a different format to retain access.
- Update Permalinks.
The following guide is intended to provide support to our Saint Mary’s community during the transition from SuperSearch to OneSearch, including instructions for moving content you might have saved in SuperSearch into another platform.

Our access to SuperSearch will stop at the end of 2024. If you have questions or concerns about the migration to OneSearch, please contact us at lib@smumn.edu.
